I’m a IPT, EMDR and accredited CBT Therapist.
If you’re feeling stressed, finding it hard to gain perspective and constantly caught up in trying to think your way out of your problems but find yourself getting stuck……
Then it might be time to invest in yourself and in therapy.
You will find that I have a warm and relaxed style. I help individuals and groups gain clarity and deeper understanding of problems as diverse as trauma, perfectionism, depression relationship issues and loss of confidence.
You can expect to be listened to and I will support you to set goals and make changes in your life. I’ll encourage you to change old perceptions and habits through challenges and tasks between sessions. The hard work you put into therapy will be rewarded with a feeling oof optimism space, renewed confidence whilst honouring your own strengths and values.
I haven’t always been a therapist and the journey in anyone’s career can be convoluted. I have had many different roles and experiences and like to think that this gives me a broad perspective and empathetic stance. After working in local government and then being self-employed, I reached a crossroads turning 30. I returned to studying and qualified initially as an Occupational Therapist before specialising in mental health. I consider myself a life-long learner and enjoy the experience of gaining new insights and skills. I am an accredited CBT Therapist, gained qualifications in Inter-personal therapy (IPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and working towards being an EMDR consultant.
After working in the NHS for 20 years, I have now moved into private practice where I can focus fully on the needs of clients rather than on targets. I often like to work in a way that utilises all my therapeutic skills. I enjoy getting to the heart of issues and understanding how our core beliefs and past experiences impact on our mood and mental health but also in our body’s physical health, diet and sleep.
